Jaxx d' Arc Project

It's been a while since my last post, well, kinda lazy to write something, because I don't know where to start with, in the end I didn't start anything... haha... BTW right now I'm in the middle of my new project, in collaboration with my friend Sharul to produce a short movie about Malaysian Drift Sport. But before that, we're going to produce a 2 or less minute of Trailer, to show our friends and people our idea which we're dying to have their opinion counted before we start the full project. For me, it is my experiment on how our Malaysian people can accept a little bit off the ordinary ideas which have being produced in Malaysia. I know Malaysian people love something clitche but it ain't stop me from trying. Me and my friend have come out with a fresh idea on how our short movie going to looks like and I hope that this short movie can tackle tickle toddle our Malaysian. Well, something interesting about this movie is, we're going to use CGI a bit to give a handsome image on our movie, with action packed storyline to pump up audiences' adrenaline and all new drift cars line up which reflect the Malaysian Drift Culture. Well, for now I'm thinking of upload the project on Youtube, but it depend on my friend, whether he agree or not. Anyway I'll keep in posting any updates regarding to the project. Sheoww~

Drag Me to Cinemaa!!

I think it is still not too late for me to give my comment about one of the horror movies that for me would have no problem to be my favorite of all time, "Drag Me To Hell". I was watching the movie with my friend and from the very beginning of the story my heart can't stop from beating like heck. The strength of the movie was on its sound effect and its element of surprise. Combine both of the elements and you will definitely get a tremendous result that can blow your heart and your head off. From the starting point, even though you know what will happen next, but Sam Raimi got many tricks to redecorate your expectations with surprising elements such as when the demon reveals itself, when the old lady appears etc. What's more that attracted me about this film was the characteristic of the main character itself. Not to mention about the role of Justin Long which for me very similar with Pierre Andre in 'Jangan Tegur', not so important but still, in this movie he caused the death of his fiancee (Alison Lohman) actually, accidently. Alison Lohman played a good role in this movie. She shows us the nature of true human when it comes to danger. No more all the way good character. She showed us when is the time we human be a selfish person, frequently. 4.5 out of 5 star for 'Drag Me to Hell'.

Santau...

Couple of weeks ago I managed to watch the horror film directed by mr Azhari Zain (Zack) titled Santau. The filming takes only 2 weeks to settle and for me, the quality was quite unbelievable, I watched the post-production movie without sound effect etc but it still didn't bored me at all. Well, I admit the first 10 minutes seems a bit amatuer for me, as the director seems like doesn't want to show much of the happiness of the family (Well, I guess maybe because I was influenced by the synopsis of the movie which mentioned about the character's family) and looks like he wanted to skip all the way to the horror part. The element for me that brought up the thrill in me was because of the sound effects that they managed to key in, plus the part where the heroin, Putri Mardiana ate her own vomit on the floor (Urrgghhh... You guys should watch it, seriously it gross). Mr Zack often used a fast n silence technique to shock the audience. I mean he often put the ghost at a corner or something and then the character will walk and pass by the ghost and BAMM!! I noticed it on couple of scene that used these technique. So, yes, the ghost still a typical Metrowealth ghost, where they will just popped out and scare you out of your breath. :D

For those who enjoy all-way-terrifying movie, this movie might be in your list. Just make sure you only expect it as the best Malay movie, not internationally... :D

P/S: Congratulation to the heroin, Putri Mardiana for her achievements at Hollywood recently.

V3 -Samseng Jalanan-

A couple of weeks ago I managed to watch the preview of V3 -Samseng Jalanan- (formerly known as REMP-IT V3). Overall it was a good try for a director as young as Farid Kamil (not so young actually,eh?haha). But to be honest it wasn't like what I expected from the guy named Farid Kamil. I thought he can do it a lot more better than that. All I can say is he put too much effort to make the film perfect until he forgot some of the details which makes the film looks incompleted and (a bit) boring. The idea on combination of Illegal race and technology was a good try and will be even better if that was what Farid tried to stressed on. But from the beginning until the end of the film, I can't see anything that he intends to stressed. For example Garing (Aqasha) puts so many efforts to insists Rudy (Farid Kamil) to have a race with him as he planned on making profit from the race. But in the end, on their last battle there were another racers took place and race with them. For me, to show the audiences how great the race is, Farid better let Garing and Rudy take the battle and compete with each other with fighting on the bike scene etc. That will makes the scene more interesting instead of repeating the same direction as the first race.

Moreover, I don't understand the function of several people in the film, for example Lisa Surihani, I don't even think she supposed to be in the movie if she just acted like what she did in V3. In my opinion, she should be (at least) the mastermind behind Garing, and be the planner for him instead of adding another cast which for me another useless part, Kamarool Yussof.

Talking about the storyline, There was no climax whatsoever which for me the reason why I can see many flaws in the film (because i got a bit bored and starts to watch the technique etc...)

Against all of these, I believed that Farid can still go a long way with a little help from film critiques and studies. 5 out of 10...
